MEMORIAL CELEBRATION

A Grand Success

The Colonel's Memorial Celebration was a splendid affair with attendance somewhere between two and three hundred, which considering the remoteness of the N.R.A. Whittington Center is quite impressive. We had notable attendees from as far away as Swizterland, England, and South Africa. One young Marine got off duty at Camp Pendleton and drove sixteen hours straight arriving just in time to join in the Celebration. The celebrants were so appreciative not only of his sacrifice to be there but also his service to our country that he received a standing ovation.

A Marine Corps Color Guard and Band were present and served in fine style.

The atmosphere was truly one of celebration. The Colonel was adamant that at his passing we were to celebrate his life, accomplishments, and the wonderful time we shared with him, and so we did.

Janelle Cooper, Lindy Wisdom, Bill O'Connor, and Clint Anker were some of the speakers. A short video of the Colonel's interment ceremony was shown. Also, a forty-five minute, production quality, video documentary of the Colonel's life was shown and was very much enjoyed and appreciated by all present.

The Celebration concuded with an 86 gun salute to the Colonel. The salute was organized and overseen by Master Instructor Rich Wyatt. Bob Munden, "The Fastest Gun in the World", was one of the notables standing the line to honor the Colonel.
